Troy Waterfront Farmers Market

The region's best market, 10 minutes across the river. Saturdays 9am to 1pm year-round — outdoors along River Street from May to October, indoors at the Uncle Sam Atrium November to April. Around 80 vendors: Hudson Valley cheese from R&G Cheesemakers, breakfast sandwiches from Berben & Wolff's, tomatoes from Denison Farm, hard cider from Nine Pin. Bring cash for smaller stalls, cards accepted at most.

Delmar Farmers Market

Saturdays 9am to 1pm May to November at the Bethlehem Middle School, 10 minutes south of downtown. Smaller than Troy — maybe 30 vendors — but excellent for produce and prepared food. Denison, Fox Creek, and Kilpatrick farms all sell here.

Honest Weight Food Co-op

Not a farmers market but the closest year-round grocery for Albany travelers who want local. Honest Weight on Watervliet Avenue is a member co-op with a full deli, bulk grains, local dairy, and Hudson Valley meat. Anyone can shop; members get 5 percent off. Good for self-catering if you’re in a hotel with a kitchenette.

Empire State Plaza Farmers Market

Wednesdays and Fridays 11am to 2pm from May through October, on the north end of the Plaza. Smaller and geared to state workers grabbing lunch — 15 to 20 vendors — but convenient if you’re already downtown.
